All geotechnical nodes are micro-controller, wireless mesh-networked based on IEEE 802.15.4 and form an integrated system that can monitor over a wide area, or any convoluted physical/geographical environment. Working as a self-configuring wireless mesh, data moves from neighbour to neighbour through the network. This provides an extremely robust and flexible solution adaptable to many various and challenging situations.
The FlatMesh Triaxial Tilt Sensor Node is an extremely high precision and exceptionally stable triaxial tilt sensor which reports its measurements through Senceive’s FlatMesh wireless communications network to a FlatMesh Gateway. It has been successfully applied in many applications, including those measuring:
The FlatMesh Crack Sensor Node interfaces to a linear displacement sensor. Its high precision sampling circuit powers the sensor and reports its measurements through Senceive’s FlatMesh wireless communications network to a FlatMesh Gateway. It has been successfully used in many applications, including those measuring:
The FlatMesh Vibrating Wire Sensor Node brings a wide variety of vibrating wire sensors into the FlatMesh system. It is a highly integrated system which is capable of exciting and sampling vibrating wire sensors and reporting its measurements through Senceive’s FlatMesh wireless communications network to a FlatMesh Gateway.
Examples of the sensors supported:
The FlatMesh Nano range is one of the most recent additions to Senceive’s expanding family of state of the art products – enabling robust and repeatable wireless geo-technical, structural and industrial monitoring. The FlatMesh Nano range has its own unique miniature form and is explicitly designed for rail and construction industries to provide unbeatable tilt sensing. This easy to deploy tilt sensor node has no external aerial and a durable shell with IP67/68 rating that can withstand even the harshest environments.
The Nano's discrete form and wide range of simple fixings allow for extremely quick installation to any surface using glue, screws or magnetic mounting. Its innovative design allows the Nano to be installed in any orientation, making it ideal for tunnels, bridges and retaining walls.
With reporting available as regularly as every second, the Senceive Nano has a resolution of 0.0001° (0.0018 mm/m), and repeatability of ±0.0005° (0.009 mm/m). The Nano's unrivalled specifications and a battery life of up to 5 years make it the true feature of wireless tilt sensing.
The FlatMesh platform development was part funded by the Technology Strategy Board who recognised Senceive’s leadership in the global wireless market for geotechnical sensing.
The FlatMesh Nano use exactly the same FlatMesh core platform as our other products and has many of their Best in Class features and unrivalled functionality, all in a much smaller enclosure.
The Light Sensor measures light levels, and can be used for example in display cases of light sensitive artefacts or similar as used in Charlecote Park.

The FlatMesh 3G Gateway is a fully integrated unit which provides all the functionality required to operate a FlatMesh wireless sensor network in a remote location.
No fixed IP address is required for the cellular service; the Gateway simply initiates the connection with the FlatMesh Web Monitor software over the Internet.
The FlatMesh USB Gateway provides all the functionality required to operate a FlatMesh wireless sensor network in conjunction with a PC.
Combine with the FlatMesh Data Logger software for simple text file logging, or the FlatMesh Web Monitor software for real-time visualisation and alerting.
The FlatMesh WebMonitor is an easy-to-use, web-based data access system which provides Senceive’s customers with a highly user friendly tool for the management of FlatMesh monitoring infrastructure that has been deployed in the field.
FlatMesh Web Monitor runs on a high performance Microsoft Windows-based server.
A number of Windows services run in the background to perform tasks such as:
The core of the system is a Microsoft SQL Server database. It stores all data samples and diagnostic information for all sites.
The web front end is built on Microsoft ASP.NET which retrieves all relevant information from the database and generates reports at the user’s request.
